Do you need a local partner for your blockchain projects marketing activities in Vietnam?

Vietnam is one of the most fast-growing markets when it comes to the blockchain sphere. A quick look around the traffic to top exchanges on CoinMarketCap can prove that. However, approach this market might require lots of efforts to resolve such problems as local business culture shocks, the unsegmented crowds and especially regulation-related issues since Vietnam is still taking a conservative view of cryptocurrency.

From that, arise a question, do you need a local partner for your blockchain projects marketing activities in Vietnam?

This is a question worth your concern since your response to it will directly affect your results from this market. To answer this, there are actually quite a number of factors that will determine whether or not a local partner is needed. Yet the primary factor would be “is Vietnam one of your prioritize market?” or, to rephrase it, is Vietnam important enough to have a local partner to take care for it together with your team?

If it is just one of the nice-to-have markets where you should have some images, you can definitely do it yourself for all Marketing activities in Vietnam. In fact, there are some good media having English-speaking staff where you can book them yourself without any help from intermediates. Or, even simpler, you can just focus on your global market, if your project is good enough, such as your token price is among top performing cryptocurrencies or at least, relevant enough like partnership announcement with Vietnam-origin projects, those media will automatically crawl the news themselves to push to their audiences since that’s something might interest the end users.
In other words, one global community manager can manage all your secondary markets.

On the other hand, if Vietnam is a big deal to you, well my friend, you’re definitely going to need a local team or partner to handle it. Not to mention the local problems which require local solution from local people, but to set some serious mindset from your strategy toward an important market. Now, which types should you choose? A local team whose members are recruited by your core team or a local partner for doing such activities?

Understanding your choices.

Both can provide you with Vietnamese knowledge and experiences, but there are some differences. Please be noted this comparison my subjective to your budget.

Vietnamese Employees Team:

  1. Advantages:
    1. Strong loyalty: They work directly for your so at least they don’t need to serve any other people.
    2. Direct and Wide-range of Management: you are the ones who pay them so they will totally be responsible for your request which can vary
    3. Quality control: again, they are your people, you can trust them for the content quality control like translation or the true meaning of the message you want to deliver.
  2. Disadvantages:
    1. Based on your budget: if you pay for this team not so well, you might end up hiring some not-so-competent people which may cost you even more to conduct marketing activities such as PR or media coverage since they may not have connections to those organizations to get you good deals.

Local Partners:

  1. Advantages:
    1. Leverages: based your agreement with the local partner, you can have better PR or media coverage deals thanks to their connections or you can totally leverage their own established community to promote your campaigns.
    2. Potentially, more professional: Compared to individuals, organization working as agency might have more procedures and processes to conduct their work with experienced people to handle them.
    3. Direct and Wide-range of Management: you are the ones who pay them so they will totally be responsible for your request which can vary
  2. Disadvantages:
    1. Again, this Based on your budget: if you pay for this team not so well, you might end up hiring some not-so-competent people which may cost you even more to conduct marketing activities such as PR or media coverage since they may not have connections to those organizations to get you good deals.
    2. Loyalty:  people responsible for your deal from your partners are still their employees. At the end of the day they are their employees, not yours; therefore they might end up marking up the budget or not so responsible for your tasks – this could be prevent if you can establish a good relationship with your partner.
    3. Quality control: consequently, you have no trusted person to control the quality of what your partner is delivering.

Those disadvantages from both choices may sound a little bit disappointing but they can possibly happen. What you need to do is having a good relationship with whoever you’re working. And that relationship will come from both the financial benefits they are receiving as well as other means such as mental care or bonding. In fact, you should have more touchpoints with your local team/partner since, at the end of the day, they are they ones being responsible for your results from the Vietnam country – the important market that brought you to come to this part.

So, to sum up, do you need a partner?

There is no right or wrong answer for this question from us. It’s all subjective to your goals and your resources. We believe after this articles, you will be more clear of the answer from your view yourself. If not, please do not decide now, go back with your team and clearly define your objectives in Vietnam as well as your budget for it first.

Hope you have a great time spent.
